MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Watch Picks of the Week #111

After a week-long hiatus, we're back! In this week's MR PORTER x Haulogerie edition, we'll be featuring some amazing watches from Vacheron Constantin, Girard-Perregaux and IWC. Enjoy!

Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix Automatic Tourbillon

The first tourbillon from Vacheron Constantin's popular 'Fiftysix' collection, this watch is modelled after a vintage 1956 style. It's been expertly crafted in Switzerland from 18-karat pink gold and detailed with the signature 'Maltese' cross on the cage, crown and horns. The calibre 2160/1 automatic movement is visible through the sapphire glass crystal case back and offers an 80-hour power reserve.

Chopard L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Limited Edition

Limited to just 100 pieces, Chopard's 'L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25' watch is housed in a sleek 18-karat rose gold case and features Arabic numbers set on a Grand Feu dial crafted by the maison's master enamellers. It's powered by the 98.06-L movement with an instantaneous jumping hour function - an impressive feature developed in-house. Chopard Quattro Technology allows it to go 8 days without winding.

Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier

Cartier's 'Ballon Bleu de Cartier' watch has a curved 18-karat pink gold case and sapphire cabochon crown - details inspired by a balloon floating through the air. It's been expertly crafted in Switzerland, powered by a calibre 1847 MC automatic movement with 42-hour power reserve, and secures with a sleek dark-grey alligator strap. The sunray-brushed dial features signature Roman numerals and sword-shaped hands.

Girard-Perregaux La Esmeralda Automatic Tourbillon

Girard-Perregaux's newest interpretation of 'La Esmeralda Tourbillon' has a Swiss-made calibre GP09400-0014 automatic movement that's been constructed for a longer, 60 hour power reserve. The dial features three iconic bridges that were first introduced by the Maison over 150 years ago and are every bit as innovative and technically advanced today. The back is protected by a pink gold cover hand-engraved with three galloping horses and intricate details that honour the house's original late 1800s model. Open it to reveal the inner workings as well as space to add your own secret engraving.

IWC Big Pilot's Las Vegas Limited Edition

A tribute to Las Vegas, IWC has updated one of its core models with an array of design elements inspired by Sin City's gambling spirit. Maintaining the understated feel of the 'Big Pilot's' collection, the silver-plated dial nods to the city's glamorous lifestyle, while the case back is engraved with a roulette wheel; the theme extends to the dates which appear in red, black and green, and to the casino-inspired engraved crown, too. Limited to 250 pieces, it has a sleek stainless steel case and is powered by the calibre 52110 automatic movement that runs autonomously for up to 7 days.

Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Automatic

One of only a handful of watchmakers with its own gold foundry, Piaget is renowned for its expertise in jewellery and precious metals. A fine example of that skill, this 'Altiplano' reference is cast from 18-karat rose gold and powered by a 1200D1 movement that allows for the exceptionally thin 6mm case. It's skeletonised so each element of that engineering can be fully appreciated but added to that, the main plate is set with 292 brilliant-cut diamonds - note too the diamonds along the buckle - while the screws are concealed by 11 cabochon-cut rubies. Combining the impact of jewellery with watchmaking expertise, this is one timepiece that won't go unnoticed.
