In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Lange 1 and made in a limited run of only 25 individually numbered pieces, A. Lange & Söhne have released the adorably named Little Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” to commemorate the occasion. In case you didn’t know, and in a continued celebration of the Lange 1’s 25th birthday, A. Lange & Söhne are releasing ten limited edition timepieces commemorating the Lange 1 over the course of the year.
Measuring 36.8mm in diameter and a relatively slim 9.5mm in thickness, the white-gold case of the Little Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” is fairly undersized, especially considering that the regular proportions of said Lange 1 is normally 38.5mm x 10.7mm. The dial is made up of solid silver and features a two-tone agenté finish. This very clean monochromatic look is offset by the blue hands and dial markers, along with the enlarge date window in the top right part of the dial.
Turn the piece over and you’ll see, aside from all the usual bells and whistles of any A. Lange & Söhne movement, a blue-filled engraving on the balance cock depicting the number “25” inside Lange’s iconic big-date window. This is typical of all movements that are part of pieces in the Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” series.
A. Lange & Söhne’s in-house calibre L121.1 powers the Little Lange 1 “25th Anniversary”, and when fully wound it has a power reserve of about 3-days. It features 368-components, a beating frequency of 3Hz, as well as displaying the passing hours, minutes and seconds, the date and the power reserve, all dial-side. Typical of A. Lange & Söhne is the three-quarter mainplate, which has been beautifully executed and features diagonally orientated ribbing, blued screws, polished gold chatons and of course that wonderful engraved balance cock. The movement is a gorgeous marriage of flawless visuals and highly accurate mechanics, and this marriage of both calibre-oriented realms is one that A. Lange & Söhne have grown especially adept at achieving in all of their timepieces.
The Little Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” is an exceptional timepiece whose belittled dimensions will definitely enable it to wear a lot easier, especially so when dressed formally under a shirt and cuff.
