NWA: Piaget Goes Dark With The New Polo Skeleton Ceramic

The Piaget Polo is a significant collection for Piaget, originating in 1979 with a luxurious gold watch featuring an integrated bracelet. Over the decades, the Polo collection has evolved from its extravagant 1980s roots into a more contemporary and sleek design, especially with the introduction of the Piaget Polo S in 2016.

This modern collection emphasises luxury sports watches with various complications and features, including ultra-thin designs. One standout is the Polo Skeleton, known for its combination of thinness and mechanical sophistication.

This year, Piaget has introduced a bolder, sportier version of the Polo Skeleton in black ceramic. This new model maintains the 42mm cushion-shaped case but is now made with black ceramic and a black DLC-coated titanium container for enhanced durability.

The watch has a sleek, all-black aesthetic, with openworked bridges, a jet-black dial, and blue Super-LumiNova accents on the hands and indices, adding a touch of dynamism.

The Polo Skeleton Ceramic is powered by the calibre 1200S1, a skeletonized version of Piaget’s ultra-thin automatic movement, the 1200P. Despite its 7.5mm thickness, the watch remains impressively thin and comfortable on the wrist.

It comes with two interchangeable rubber straps in black and blue, further emphasising its sporty character.

This Polo Skeleton Ceramic is priced at AUD69,500 and marks an important milestone in Piaget’s exploration of ceramic as a material, blending contemporary design with the brand’s heritage of ultra-thin watchmaking.
