Watches Of The Week: 13/01/2025 - 19/01/2025

Welcome to the inaugural edition of your retrospective go-to for all things watch-related, Watches Of The Week. While the book of 2024 is well and truly closed, it's always nice to reminisce on the year that was. Highlighted by a range of wonderful timepieces, 2024 was one of the most eventful and watch-filled years I've ever experienced personally.

And if that is any indication as to how this year will be, then I'm sure we're in for an equally as wild ride. In fact, the first few weeks of 2024 have been full of exciting new releases and product updates -- scintillating stuff. We've got new drops from the likes of Tudor, Omega, MB&F, IWC and others headlining so far, and with LVMH Watch Week just a stone's throw away, stay tuned and hold tight.

On a more personal front, Haulogerie is well and truly overdue for a reshuffle. So, as you're staying tuned and holding tight for more watch news and releases, so too should you for a pretty exciting refresher. :)

Hope you all have a tremendous, prosperous and happy 2025 #watchfam.

MB&F Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Legacy Machine Longhorn Series

MB&F has commemorated its 20th anniversary with the release of two special timepieces, the Legacy Machine Perpetual Longhorn and the Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback Longhorn. These limited editions, restricted to just 20 pieces each, reinterpret MB&F's groundbreaking Legacy Machine designs by introducing elongated lugs—nicknamed “horns”—that give these watches their distinctive names. Crafted from stainless steel, the Longhorn editions feature a monochromatic aesthetic with black lacquer sub-dials, rhodium-plated base plates, and a refined black-and-silver palette that contrasts with the typically bold designs MB&F is known for. The dual spring bar holes in the lugs, one near the tip and another closer to the case, ensure a versatile fit for various wrist sizes. The Longhorn editions evoke a prototype of the Legacy Machine 1 from 2009 while offering a sleeker and more understated take on the brand’s signature style. Internally, the watches retain the revolutionary movements developed by Stephen McDonnell, lauded for his innovative solutions to complex horological challenges. Despite their anniversary status, these models are priced below previous editions due to their stainless steel cases, making them an intriguing and accessible option for collectors—though securing one may prove difficult given the limited availability. Measuring over 44 mm in diameter and 17 mm in height, these watches make a bold statement, with the extended lugs adding a larger wrist presence despite the subdued color scheme. While their size and exclusivity may limit their appeal to niche audiences, the Longhorn editions represent a significant and stylish chapter in MB&F’s illustrious legacy.
